Tata Power Strategic Engineering Division reported that it has delivered the Combat Management System for the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier being built for the Indian Navy .
It was developed by Tata Power SED in collaboration with Indian Ministry of Defence’s Weapon and Electronics System Engineering Establishment and Russia’s NPO MARS.
Typical functions of the CMS include sensor control, sensor data fusion, threat evaluation, weapons assignment, weapons control etc.A Naval Combat Management System is a computer system that connects a naval ship’s sensors, weapons, data links, support measures and other equipment to the officers and staff performing the tasks in combat.
This is the first CMS developed by a private company for Indian Navy and is for India’s indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant.
Prior to the handover, the system software and hardware were subjected to rigorous acceptance trials and it successfully cleared all acceptance tests, said the company in a statement.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Tata Power is India’s largest integrated power company.
It has an installed capacity of 10757 MW and has its operations in India, Singapore, South Africa and Bhutan and has its operations in 35 locations in India.
