Lockheed Martin and Raytheon's Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) partnership has signed an agreement with Indian firm Tata Power's Strategic Engineering Division (SED) to explore potential co-development and production of the FGM-148E Javelin anti-armour weapon system.
Under the terms of a letter of intent (LoI) announced on 31 August, JJV and Tata Power SED will look to create a strategy to co-develop and produce the Javelin missile system and integrate platform mounts to meet Indian requirements, said a joint statement.
The Javelin is traditionally used in manportable applications but the scope of the LoI between JJV and Tata Power SED includes developing the missile system for ground combat vehicles, dismounted infantry, and rotorcraft applications.
