Kashmiri separatist Asiya Andrabi linked with Pakistan Army and got funds from ISI, NIA probe reveals

A day after Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi was arrested by the National Investigation Agency, along with two others, he interrogation has revealed that she touched base with Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafeez Saaed through a serving officer in the Pakistan Army, who also happened to be her relative.
The NIA on Tuesday arrested separatists Masarat Alam, Andrabi and Shabir Shah in a terror funding case involving Saeed. The NIA has been given 10-day custody of the separatist leaders and the trio is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
Army official is Andrabi’s nephew while she also has other close relatives who have links with the Pakistan Army and its intelligence wing Inter-Services Intelligence. Some of her relatives in Dubai and Saudi Arabia have also leveraged funds to aid her anti-national activities in India, the probe revealed.
Andrabi, the founder of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of the Nation), has been working for the secession of Kashmir from India and was taken into custody in July 2018 for ‘waging war against India’.
She made news after she flashed the Pakistani national flag and sang their national anthem around four years ago in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, allegedly masterminded by Saeed.
A Delhi court sent Alam, Andrabi and Shabir Shah to 10-day NIA custody in terror funding case involving Hafiz Saeed. The NIA had demanded 15-day custody of the trio in a case related to terror funding.
On May 30, 2017, the NIA had filed an FIR against the separatists and charged them for links with terror outfits. Andrabi, who was brought to Delhi in 2018 is alleged to have received funds from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed for carrying out stone pelting in the state. The separatists are likely to be probed about the seizures recovered by the investigating agencies namely the NIA and the Enforcement Directorate.
