Representatives of the Russian company Sevmash and the Indian Navy have signed a contract for technical assistance in the maintenance of the Vikramaditya aircraft carrier, after the warranty period expires – announced the press service of the Russian company.
“This is one of the directions of post-warranty maintenance for this ship, which is now being discussed by Russian and Indian officials. The Indian Navy is proposing that the company conduct these activities for the next 40 years. Currently, Sevmash specialists are winding up their warranty period work on the aircraft carrier. A minimum volume of servicing work is being performed on the ship’s equipment and systems. The warranty team of the company includes professionals who participated in all stages of construction of the Vikramaditya, starting with the installation and commissioning of the equipment to its final testing”, it was noted in the statement.
The Vikramaditya aircraft carrier (formerly the Admiral Gorshkov) was officially handed over to the naval forces of India on November 16, 2013 at the Sevmash, where the ship underwent a large-scale reconstruction. The aircraft carrier left the territorial waters of Russia on December 9, and in January safely reached the quay of the Indian port of Karwar.
